Dr. David Weitzman is a North Myrtle Beach physician, husband, and father who has long been a steady presence in our community. With a breadth of experience spanning private industry, clinical care, research, and government service, this profile reflects a people-centered approach and a commitment to service as an active community volunteer. With his home and practice here, Dr. Weitzman guides direct primary care, aerospace medicine, and urgent care, as a Medical Director. While empowering immigrants to become legal residents and citizens through service as a Sr. U.S. Civil Surgeon he also serves as a Sr Aerospace Flight Surgeon (AME) for the FAA, supporting astronauts and pilots in the region. A track record of national leadership includes building and managing programs, clinical operations, national standards, and advanced medical education in large programs. Federal service includes positions with the Department of Defense Wounded Warrior Program as Primary Care Physician Manager, and with the U.S. Coast Guard as Chief Appellate Medical Officer. Through it all, Dr. Weitzman brings a steady, compassionate, and results-driven mindset to North Myrtle Beach.
I am committed to fostering warm, respectful two-way dialogue between the community and city government as we explore thoughtful approaches to growing our city.
As an at-large city council candidate, I will prioritize developing high-tech and clean industries to create more and better-paying jobs for our community.
My vision for North Myrtle Beach is to build on our roots as a small beach town and correct infrastructure to the mid-sized city we already are today.
Let’s keep politics local: work together, respect different viewpoints, and pursue outcomes that benefit everyone in the community. We need a community involvement plan.
Creating a business- and resident-friendly environment means growing good jobs, promoting innovation in AI / high-tech and clean industries, and keeping dialogue open with the people we serve.
I will lead with our legacy in mind, pursuing balanced growth that strengthens both business and residential neighborhoods, grows high-tech and clean industries, and maintains open two-way communication with residents.
I'm running for City Council because I believe we can build a stronger connection between our community and our local government. As a local physician, husband, and father, my life is built right here in North Myrtle Beach. I'm not a career politician—I'm a problem-solver who knows how to listen, build trust, and work with others. While I respect the work of our current leaders, I see a clear opportunity to foster a more open and collaborative approach. My focus is on practical, positive solutions: improving communication so your voice is truly heard, and working to attract new professional businesses to create better-paying jobs for our families. This role is about serving everyone. I'm running to be a voice for our community, to listen first, and to help move North Myrtle Beach forward—together.
I don’t take money with strings attached. I’ll provide open updates on funding and decisions and be available to talk with residents. Please donate what you can, and not more. Even $5 helps. We also need Volunteers! They are our life blood.
